Accessibility, privacy and terms
How this site treats you.
We sell access for a living. It would be strange to run a website that didn't practice it, or that quietly collected more than it needed.
Accessibility statement
Wave Interpreting is committed to making waveinterpreting.com usable by everyone, including Deaf and hard-of-hearing visitors, people using screen readers, and people who navigate by keyboard alone. We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 508.
What we have done
- Text and background colors are tested for contrast. Body text meets 4.5:1 or better, large headings meet 3:1 or better.
- Every page can be operated with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline on each control and a skip-to-content link.
- Pages use real headings, landmarks and lists, so screen readers can navigate by structure.
- Every image carries a text description. Decorative artwork is hidden from screen readers rather than described pointlessly.
- Forms have visible labels, clear required markers, and errors written in words, announced politely to screen readers.
- Nothing important is communicated by color alone, and nothing is announced by sound alone.
- Animation respects your device's reduced-motion setting, and a Motion button in the header stops all movement. Your choice is remembered on your device.
- Touch targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels.
- The page reflows to a single column at phone widths without horizontal scrolling, and text can be zoomed to 200% without losing content.
- Any video we publish carries accurate captions and an ASL track, and transcripts are available on request.
Known limits
The client portal uses a third-party booking system that we are still auditing against the same standard. If you hit a barrier there, tell us and we will complete your request by email in the meantime, at no disadvantage to you.
Tell us if something blocks you
Email hello@waveinterpreting.com or text (904) 251-4535. Describe the page and what happened. We reply within one business day and will provide the information you were after in another format straight away.
Privacy
The short version: we collect what we need to arrange interpreting, we do not sell it, and this site does not track you.
What this website collects
- No tracking cookies and no third-party analytics. No advertising pixels, no social widgets, no session recording.
- No third-party fonts or scripts. Type is served from our own site, so no outside company sees your visit.
- One local preference. Your motion on/off choice is stored in your own browser. It never leaves your device and we cannot read it.
- Form data. What you type into a booking form reaches our coordinators by encrypted email: names, contact details, the date, the setting and any notes you add.
How we handle what you send
- It is used to quote, schedule and staff your assignment, and to invoice for it.
- It is shared only with the interpreter assigned to your assignment, and only the parts they need to do the work well.
- We never sell personal information, and we do not send marketing email unless you ask for it.
- Assignment records are kept for seven years for tax and compliance, then deleted. Ask us to delete yours sooner and we will, except where law requires we keep it.
Health information
Interpreting in clinical settings means we sometimes handle protected health information. Wave works under HIPAA, signs a Business Associate Agreement with covered entities, and every interpreter signs confidentiality terms binding them to the RID Code of Professional Conduct. Assignment notes containing clinical detail are stored encrypted and are visible only to the coordinator and the assigned interpreter.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@waveinterpreting.com and we will respond within 30 days. California residents have these rights under the CCPA, and we extend the same treatment to everyone who contacts us.
Terms and refunds
- Rates are per hour, per interpreter, with a two-hour minimum. Travel is billed at cost.
- Assignments over an hour of continuous interpreting are covered by a team of two.
- Cancellations more than two business days ahead are free. Inside that window, the assignment is billed.
- If we fail to cover a confirmed assignment, you are not billed for it.
- Invoices are due 30 days from issue.
